Artist Statement

As an abstract painter, collage and mixed media artist, my work is a harmonious fusion of textured and handmade papers, fabrics and unique ephemera from household items, fairs, and antique shops.  Through their integration, a captivating low lying relief is formed.  With acrylic as my medium of choice, my paintings exude intuitive and expressive movements, with vibrant colors and textures.  Other pursuits of artistic process include water marble, monoprints, encaustic and fluid painting.

Artist Biography

Elaine Rosenberg, a resident of North Brunswick, NJ, began art studies at  Kean University, and has further developed her skills with instruction at various educational art centers and retreats.

Ms. Rosenberg describes her art:

I truly enjoy creating Collage and Mixed Media works of art.  My interest in art developed in college, when one art professor allowed us to use whatever medium we chose, and to make whatever we imagined. I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom she gave us for self-discovery.

My collages are dimensional, and I enjoy looking for articles that I can incorporate into the artwork.  Many of these articles can be found in antique shops, flea markets, or just around the house.

Some of my collages are personalized for family and friends.  Others are created with a particular theme in mind, or by just combining materials that are visually appealing and exciting.  To me, art is a learning experience that never ends.

In order to hone my skills, I’ve taken many art classes while in college, as well as workshops and retreats. These include the following:

·   Kean University

·   Visual Arts Center of NJ

·   Arts Council of Princeton (Paul Robeson Center),

·   Artworks in Trenton

·   Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster

·   “Art Opera” Retreat in Red Bank, NJ (Workshop with Tracie Bautista, Author of “Collage  Unleashed”)

·   Workshops with Alice Harrison (Published in "Masters: Collage,” Lark Books)

·   “Create” Retreats sponsored by Cloth, Paper, Scissors, Magazine (Workshops with Jane Davies, Author of “Collage        Journeys;”  Diana Trout, Author of  “Journal Spilling;”  Cathy Taylor, Author of “Pigments of Your Imagination,
